Author: The Abolitionist: a Publication of Critical Resistance

The Abolitionist, launched in the spring of 2005, is a bilingual (English/Spanish) publication dedicated to the strategy and practice of prison industrial complex abolition. The Abolitionist has a national circulation of 3,500, including over 2,500 people in jails, prisons and detention centers in the US, Canada and Colombia. Past contributors include Ruth Wilson Gilmore, Dylan Rodriguez, Andrea Smith, Marilyn Buck, Andrea Ritchie, Linda Evans, J. Soffiyah Elijah, and Jerome Miller-just to name a few. The Abolitionist is volunteer-run collective that operates by consensus. It is an important forum for prisoner voices and a valuable a source of news and analysis on the issues that affect prisoners and state-targeted communities nation-wide. This is a major organizing tool with and for people who are locked up. Topics covered range from re-entry to the criminalization of immigrants to prisoner health care to alternative visions, practices and models for a safer, more humane world. Your subscription allows us to continue to send in this publication to prisoners in jails, detention centers free of cost.
